Professional football has to face its responsibility in the fight against the climate crisis. We know that there is still a long way to go here. The carbon footprint of a football match is high. In addition to the on-site infrastructure, there are the massive distances travelled by fans. Not all of these factors can be minimized by professional football alone. On their side, it is particularly important to take energy efficiency measures, use green electricity and install solar panels. Politically, there is a fundamental need to take action to bring about a transport turnaround and to create incentives for climate-neutral travel. We believe that a partnership can help to sensitise all actors to the relevance of the topic.
